In the past, I've written about the technology I use on a daily basis (see bottom of page for links). Here's my updated version for Spring, 2016. I am a K-12 Education Strategist for CDW-G . In this role, I work with schools on selecting and implementing technology solutions to improve teaching and learning. I do a lot of research on best practices in education and technology and do a decent amount of traveling. I'm a huge user of  Google Apps  and  Evernote . Evernote Clearly is a great browser extension that cleans up a web page so that jus the article is visibgle for viewing, eliminating distractions like ads and other links. It is a great tool for students to use to help them focus on what they are reading. Unfortunately, Evernote is not going to support it anymore (to focus more on their core app) and you won't even be able to download it after tomorrow. Here are two options you can use going forward: 1. Evernote Web Clipper - the Evernote web clipper can perform a similar function. Click on it while on the site you want to clean up, click "simplified article" and then read it. When done, just close out the clipper window and it goes back to the original site. 2. They are my main work, and personal tools, and all of my devices work with them. Without these, I'm stuck. I also back them both up. My personal smartphone is an HTC One M7 running Android. I love it. I can do anything on it - email, web browsing, Google Apps, Evernote, messaging, photos, musics, etc. I is my go-to device. I have an external battery for traveling, but the battery life is pretty good. It's also durable, as I've dropped it a few times and it's still here - no case either. I'm due for an upgrade next month, so I'm looking to see what I will get next. I'm thinking about the new Nexus 5 that is rumored, or the HTC One M9. Evernote is my go-to organizing tool. I use it for lesson plans, lesson resources, project planning and tracking, client information, blog ideas, and personal stuff like important documents, photos and more. I pay for the Premium version because I wanted the premium features and believe that it is worth every penny. Evernote is an absolutely amazing tool that keeps getting better. Evernote recently announced new pricing levels and features . The best part is the less expensive middle level gives features that used to be part of the premium level. Current premium users were moved to the new premium level. There is still a free version, so don't worry. Tip #13 - Clearly Evernote's Web Clipper allows you to clip a "simplified article" when clipping from a website. This feature gets rid of the side bars, ads, etc and just copies the article (occasionally it doesn't work depending on how the site was built, but it works most of the time.) It's a great way to just clip the article and not the distractions, making it easier to read, as well as taking less time to clip and using less storage space. Tip #12 - Notebooks, Notes, Tags Evernote's notes and notebooks are the main part of the app. There are a lot of different ways to format and organize them.   I use notebooks, notebook stacks and tags to organize everything in Evernote. The stacks are by job/function, for example - school, consulting, personal. Then each note is a new area - lesson plans, project plans, receipts, recipes, photos, etc. Tags are used to make searching easier and to allow a note in one notebook to be "cross referenced" for search. Evernote is my go-to app for note taking , organizing files and clipping things off of the web. It is my main organizational tool. It works for me. I also using Google Keep for a lot of notes. Not everyone likes it or wants to have another company have a hold of all of their data. That's where Paperwork comes in. It isn't as full featured as Evernote, but you can host it yourself and it does have some great features. You use notes, notebooks, tags and can upload multimedia files. There are not any mobile apps, yet, but you can access it on any web enabled device Schools could use this to host their own note taking system, or as a tool for students to learn and manage themselves.
